I’ve been to New York several times. However, one particular
trip I met someone at a local restaurant near Wall Street. I was trading on my
laptop using a similar software to the gentlemen in front of me. He was going
through many tabs of different information and charts. I sat next to him
knowing that he may be annoyed of my presence because it is during market
opening.
What actually happened was a long enthusiastic conversation
of this man’s career of trading and his own business he created a few
years ago. Basically, he has a subscriber base website for retail traders to implement
their trading ideas into algorithms. He makes their trading strategies into a
program and ask for a percentage of ownership. This event really opened my mind
into the different ways I could potentially make money with the market without even
buying a stock. This meeting with this person at some random restaurant really inspired
me to look at different ways to generate money.
This is what his website eventually grew into. A website where you can develop your own algorithms in the market and start trading it with live market data! (Picture below)

Hi Michael! Overall, I thought your entrepreneurship story was well detailed and well said. I liked how you used a specific experience to open up why entrepreneurship interested you. Even though you did not have a relationship with the man you spoke with, his advice was still valuable and is something you remember today. My only critique is that maybe you should connect why you enrolled in ENT3003 with this story, or explain more how this lead you to pursue entrepreneurship. This was a great story and I hope you can further develop your business ideas in this class.
ReplyDeleteHello Michael,
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cool experience! It's also nice how a lot of people who you'd think would be annoyed with you being there are actually perfectly open to talking to you about things they're passionate about.
I've wanted to do something with the stock market in the future - maybe even build some software for it - but like you said I'd also never thought of doing anything like that. There's likely just as interesting alternative/unrecognized business ideas in numerous other areas.
Michael, that is a really cool story and app. I have a friend who works for a financial company and he helps get large businesses on board their bitcoin investment and trading program. I've always found new and innovative ways to generate passive income (among other types) incredibly fascinating. Thanks for the share!
